Tartu
Tartu plays a crucial role in developing AIESEC in Estonia, because the first local committee (and thus the national committee) was founded there on the 31st of July 1989. This was the Soviet Union time, therefore AIESEC in Estonia was still part of AIESEC USSR during those times.
During that period Estonians didn’t have a lot of chances to go abroad, but through AIESEC it was possible and being a member in this organization was an advantage. After two years from foundation, AIESEC Estonia National Committee started working de facto also in Tartu.
Now, in 2011, the local committee is still located in Tartu and through these years AIESEC has provided still many opportunities for students: international internships, educational and educational/learning activities and has developed more than 200 young Estonian leaders.
Also, AIESEC in Tartu has organized a lot of interesting projects, like: students and company contact fair “Võti tulevikku”, educational project “World on Wheels”, interactive learning cycle Klapid Eest!, orphanages project “World of Home”, charity concert “Anneta aega” and lot more.
